Dubai Export Development Corporation (EDC) officials have met a delegation from India for talks on bolstering bilateral trade.

The visit was organised by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), whose members are keen to work with EDC to expand their businesses in Dubai and the rest of the UAE.

The EDC arranged a meeting of the delegation with officials from the Jebel Ali Free Zone and Dubai Internet City to develop joint trade activities.

"India is one of the important countries for Dubai and the UAE in terms of the export industry," said Farid Karmostaji, the EDC's Director of Export Market Development. "Engaging business with an industry body such as Assocham is vital for EDC as this organisation represents the interests of trade and industry in all parts of India. It interacts with its counterparts in other countries to promote bilateral economic issues."

The delegation included representatives of 14 companies. The team was headed by Amit Dev, Director of Operations at Time Broad Band, and Abdul Khalique, Head of Assocham's International Division.
