His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the setting up of an establishment for protection and control of common trade in Dubai.

During an inspection of the Dubai Department of Economic Development, Sheikh Mohammed tasked the Dubai Executive Council to take necessary measures to implement the order. Once operational, it will lead in creating an environment conducive to economic development, safeguarding it and keeping it conformed to the systems in place in Dubai, taking over the task of protecting individuals and companies from illegal business practices by providing advanced solutions to ensure safe business environment.

The main strategic goal of the establishment is to become the sole body with a clear lead responsibility for organising and protecting business activities. Among its goals is also the creation of awareness among individuals and the corporate sector about their rights and obligations in the business environment in which they work. It will improve the work environment, in addition to providing solutions to human resource requirements and training staff so that they remain at the forefront of developments in the field of trade and compliance with regulations to protect consumers.

Sheikh Mohammed inspected the procedures followed by various sections of the department, especially at the client services counters, where transactions are made easy via electronic processing. He was accompanied by Director-General of the Department Samy Al Qamzi.
