Qatar to host UN summit on financial crisis

Qatar will host a summit on the global financial crisis later this month at the request of United Nations' chief Ban Ki-moon, a member of the organising committee said.

On Monday, the UN said Ban has summoned more than 20 heads of state and governments to Doha on November 28 to discuss the crisis. "The secretary-general is convening a high-level meeting, with leaders of G20 and non-G20 states, to discuss the financial crisis," said Marie Okabe, his deputy spokesperson.

The Qatari official said about 40 heads of state and government are expected to attend.
