Record number of firms join ADCCI in H1

More than 41,000 companies joined the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) in the first half of 2009, far higher than the number registered in H1 2008, the chamber said yesterday.

The increase was a result of strong business activity by the chamber despite the financial distress and a sharp decline in oil prices, it said in a report.

From 39,860 in H1 2008, the number of new firms soared to 41,560 in H1 2009.

The new members include 27,004 commercial enterprises, 11,982 professional firms, 1,507 vocational and technical establishments, 407 industrial institutions and 660 creative entities.
