Sharjah Ruler issues decree to set up Shurooq

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Emiri Decree No 2 of 2009 on the establishment of Sharjah Authority for Investment and Development, or Shurooq.

The decree stipulates that Shurooq shall enjoy independence on administrative and financial levels along with the necessary legal mandate to carry out its activities. It shall encourage investment through the use of the best service criteria. It shall also assess infrastructure projects for investment and tourism, streamline investment activity, offer facilities and incentives and prepare a media plan. Sheikh Sultan also issued Emiri Decree No 3 of 2009 on the appointment of Sheikha Budour bint Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi as Shurooq Chairperson. Sheikha Budour issued Administrative Order No 1 of 2009 on the appointment of Marwan Jassim Al Serkal as Executive Director of the authority.
