Trade barriers should go: UAE

Commercial relations among the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries have been further strengthened by greater co-operation and co-ordination, said Dr Mohammed Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Speaking to Kuwaiti News Agency (Kuna) yesterday about the upcoming Arab Economic Summit in Kuwait later this month, he said Arab states should dismantle mutual trade barriers and provide a more investment-friendly environment to create credibility.

Trade between Arab countries should be encouraged by making customs procedures less complicated and by constant co-ordination and economic meetings, he said.

"These practical steps would make inter-Arab trade more robust, and Kuwait's summit is an important step in that direction," Gargash said.

He said the UAE will have a strong participation in the Kuwaiti meeting.
