Latin American officials meet in Portugal to rally for the G-20 summit

Latin American finance ministers will meet in Portugal on Monday to prepare for the G-20 summit, where they are expected to push for a bigger say in how the international financial system is run.

The finance ministers and central bank governors from 19 Latin American countries are joining their counterparts from Spain and Portugal for a day of talks in Porto, a northern Portuguese city.

According to a statement from the Portuguese Finance Ministry, the Ibero-American countries want to ensure their ‘active participation [...] in the new international architecture’ at the G-20 summit in London on April 2. Portugal currently holds the presidency of the Ibero-American grouping.
