Ferry capsizes off southern Bangladesh

Police say a small ferry packed with about 60 people has capsized off southern Bangladesh after being hit by a sand-laden trawler.

Local police official Nuruzzaman Chowdhury says rescuers have found body of a woman from the site of the accident near Barisal town, 120 kilometers south of the capital, Dhaka.

Chowdhury says many people swam ashore after the accident early Thursday.

Ferry accidents are common in Bangladesh, a delta nation of 150 million people.
