At least seven people were killed and 20 injured in a car bomb attack in central Baghdad on Thursday, security officials told AFP.

The bomb went off in central Baghdad's Bab Al Sharji area at around 2pm (11am GMT), they said.

Meanwhile, the news agency of Italian bishops’ conference says a Chaldean Catholic archbishop kidnapped in Iraq last month has been found dead.

The SIR news agency says Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho was found dead near the Iraqi city of Mosul, where he had been abducted. The agency quoted the auxiliary bishop of Baghdad, Monsignor Shlemon Warduni as saying the kidnappers had buried him. (AFP & AP)
