At least eight people were killed and more than 20 injured on Thursday in a suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, police said.
"Eight people died in the suicide blast and more than 20 have been wounded. Three bodies have been taken to hospital and five are still at the scene," Peshawar police Deputy Superintendent Zafarullah Khan told AFP.
Interior ministry spokesman Brigadier Javed Cheema said a teenage boy blew himself up inside the gate of the mosque in the mainly Sunni city days before the Shia religious festival of Ashura. (AFP)
