Dubai Customs received the international standards, ISO 27001:2005, for its Information Security Management System.

Dubai Customs is the first customs administration in the world to receive the certificate covering a wide scope, which includes all of the internal departments and customs centres and covers all types of information, including the electronic. It is also considered the first government department to obtain the standard on this wide and comprehensive scale.

The standard, which is developed by the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO), is aimed at creating an effective system for managing information security at the companies and organisations through implementing a group of standards and conditions, which guarantee maintaining information privacy and accuracy, and exchange them with the respective people in order to assure business continuity.

The certificate comprises 11 major fields which are: information security policy, information security organisational structure, asset management, HR security, security of the workplace, information security systems and communications management, acquiring, developing and maintaining information systems, among others.
