Dubai-based retail major The Landmark Group is setting up a series of family entertainment centres and indoor and outdoor amusement parks in India and China, two countries where the group plans to open more retail outlets.

Landmark is currently developing the Fun City Skymall in Shanghai and Fun City Teenage Zones at various locations in China, along with Teenage Zones in India, said Oliver Lorge, Managing Director of FEC International LLC, a Paris-based company designing and developing the theme parks and entertainment centres for the group.

According to Lorge, his company is also developing a Fun City Magic Land project in Cairo, Egypt.

Fun City, the children’s entertainment brand from the Landmark group, has been successful in the UAE and has expanded to Oman and Qatar. This will be its first foray eastwards, however, into booming India and China.

“We are doing a number of theme parks in India and China. China has just opened up its entertainment sector to foreign investors and the most populous country in the world has about 500 million teenagers. The number of young people in India is also huge,” said Lorge.

According to an official from the company who did not wish to give his name, in the UAE, Landmark will also open more Fun City centres in Arabian Plaza, Bawadi Mall, Oasis Centre and uptown Mirdif.

The Chinese centres will be located in Jiiangmen, Zhaoqiz and Shanghai, among other cities.
