The Dubai Court of Cassation yesterday rejected an appeal lodged by Abed Al Boom against a committee comprising representatives of the police, the Department of Economic Development and the Financial Audit Department.

An announcement to this effect was made at a press conference yesterday by Judge Abdullah Kleb, Head of Civil Prosecution, and Issa Mohammed Sabt, Assistant Head of Civil Prosecution. Al Boom had sued for a compensation of Dh1.1 billion from the three bodies for alleged harm done to him as a result of measures the committee took against him. His case had been heard in three of Dubai's courts – the Court of First Instance, the Appeals Court and the Court of Cassation.

Kleb denied Al Boom's allegations the committee prevented him from selling off his properties, which made him unable to pay off debts and his obligations.

Kleb added Al Boom was given all powers to manage his assets and properties.
