Australia says its police and passport officials will meet in Israel with dual Australian-Israeli nationals whose Australian passports were used in the slaying of a top Hamas operative in Dubai.
A spokeswoman for Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra did not provide details of when its team would arrive in Israel. She spoke on customary condition of anonymity.
The team that assassinated Mahmoud al-Mabhouh is thought to have used the passport information of three Australians who also have Israeli citizenship.
Israel’s Mossad spy agency is widely suspected of carrying out the January 19 slaying, though Israel has neither confirmed nor denied involvement.
Dubai police say 26 suspects used fake British, Irish, French and Australian passports of real people.
