Barclays, the 300-year-old financial institution, has re-launched its retail banking businesses in the UAE.

The comeback was marked by the launch of its flagship branch on Abu Dhabi's Hamdan Street by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The bank, which has been in the UAE for the past 30 years in the corporate sector, has brought back its retail services with a new product called Premier Banking.

Customers can become Premier Banking club members by opening an account with Dh367,000.

"Members can enjoy a variety of five-star services that include individually assigned premier relationship managers. Premier members can also book exclusive meeting rooms from anywhere in the world.

"This is an incredible offering, which will change the way affluent customers do their banking," Michael Miebach, Managing Director of Global Retail and Commercial Banking for Mena and the UAE, told Emirates Business.

"We want to ensure our customers have the ultimate facilities to make key decisions and hold important meetings. Our aim is to give our customers the best environment in which to conduct their business," he said.
