The seventh UAE Cabinet, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will begin its fourth year from today following the approval of its formation by The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on February 11, 2006.

The distinguished work of the Cabinet at a federal level ushered in not only great achievements, but a historical shift in direction that has made the UAE an example to be followed by all nations.

The progress achieved by the Cabinet is both guided by Sheikh Mohammed, and a continuation of the development path set forth by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

The executive work of the Cabinet has targeted the development of the federal project through equitable initiatives and building on the earlier achievements of the union, while placing UAE nationals at the core of all development programmes. Under Sheikh Mohammed's leadership, the Cabinet has endeavoured to break the country's reliance on natural resources, and build a knowledge-based economy driven by modern thinking.

The Cabinet's work under Sheikh Mohammed has focused on projects that promote development countrywide, with Sheikh Mohammed saying he wants a modern, transparent government, devoid of red tape and bureaucracy.

Speaking to government ministers, Sheikh Mohammed said he wants them to bring solutions not only problems, while reminding them of the high expectations of the country's leadership and citizens.

Sheikh Mohammed has brought new dynamism to the Cabinet meetings, with a strong emphasis on field work, a trend which took the media by surprise.

Holding meetings in places such as Bab Al Shams and Fujairah, Sheikh Mohammed broke with the old ways of doing business. This new way of leading the Cabinet has received the blessings of the President and the Members of the Supreme Council of the UAE.
