The drainage system of Dubai Mall was affected due to the Saturday downpour flooding parts of the building but the situation is under control, said Emaar, its developer, in an e-mailed statement to Emirates Business.

"The unexpected downpour affected the drainage system of Dubai Mall, causing waterlogging in some sections of the mall.

The Dubai Mall maintenance team is working along with the building contractors to rectify the situation," said a spokesperson of Dubai Mall, who added that the "rest of the mall is functioning as normal".

'A minor blip'

Humaid Rashid Sahoo, CEO, E-Vision said: "The adverse weather conditions on Saturday had a minor impact on E-Vision broadcasting. All the pass-through channels (through fibre connectivity) remained unaffected. On the other hand, some of the channels we carry were interrupted at source from different broadcasters. However, we were able to restore these within a few minutes."
