More than 500 inmates in Dubai and Fujairah jails will be released on the occasion of Eid Al Adha and the UAE's 38th National Day, after the rulers of the two emirates pardoned them.

In Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the release of 427 inmates from various prisons in the emirate to mark the joint celebrations of Eid Al Adha and the National Day.

Dubai Attorney General Issam Al Humaidan said the Dubai Public Prosecution has already started co-ordinating with the police to implement the order. Al Humaidan thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his humanitarian gesture and congratulated the families of the soon-to-be-released prisoners.

In Fujairah, in a similar spirit of celebration brought on by the twin joyous occasions, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, ordered the release of 61 prisoners who had served at least half their terms at the emirate's reformatory and correctional institutions, and had showed good conduct.

Sheikh Hamad's kind gesture comes out of his keenness for bringing joy and happiness to the inmates, their families and relatives, the emirate's government said.
