Forensics: Mabhouh was drugged, suffocated

The General Headquarters of Dubai Police said forensic tests have shown that Hamas Commander Mahmoud Al Mabhouh was drugged and then suffocated in his hotel room in Dubai.

Police officials said at a press conference, which was attended by Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Commander of Dubai Police, that forensic report showed a substantial amount of a fast-acting muscle relaxant called succinylcholine in the thigh of Al Mabhouh.

The analysis was part of tests carried out by Dubai Police's forensic laboratory after Al Mabhouh was killed on January 19. Succinylcholine is sometimes used in the administration of a breathing tube or anaesthesia.
