Holiday on Sunday and January 1

Sunday and January 1 have been announced public holidays for the private sector to mark the beginning of the new Hijri year of 1430 and the 2009 New Year's Day respectively, according to a circular issued yesterday by UAE's Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash.

The Ministry of Labour congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses Members of the UAE Supreme Council and the UAE people.

The ministry said Sunday and January 1 will be holidays.
