Idex woos world’s major companies
General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has hailed quantity and quality progress being registered by the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (Idex).
He said Idex 2009 has wooed major world’s major companies, which manufacture the latest defence and security systems despite the world financial crisis, as well international experts and specialists, military and political leaders.
Sheikh Mohammed said the Idex has become one of the conspicuous defence exhibitions, indicating that its economic and scientific feasibility is tangible with multi-dimensions. He said the UAE under the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has adopted a strategic approach to extend bridges of friendship with peoples worldwide.

The growing success of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (Idex) – in terms of volume of exhibitors, participants and visitors and high value of defence technology and systems on display and arms contracts – is a vote of confidence in the advanced standard the UAE exhibition industry has reached, according to Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior.
Sheikh Saif said the UAE exhibition industry would have not been grown and flourished in a record short time without the prominent image of the UAE worldwide and the support lent by the leadership of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“We are glad that our country has set a model for reaping economic, security and cultural returns in addition to the gains in military and police practices,” the Minister said.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chief Executive and Chairman of The Emirates Group, said the success scored by the International Defence and Exhibition Conference is attributed to unlimited support of the UAE leadership.
He told Dira’ Al Watan magazine, which will issue daily bulletin at Idex 2009, in a statement that the success of the event has good impact on different activities in the UAE, adding that it has also proven that the UAE has become world hub for the specialised international exhibitions.
Sheikh Ahmed said hosting the Idex in the UAE bring the country in the spotlight, adding that warm and extensive relations of the UAE with the world countries raise the level of official delegations taking part at the event despite the current global financial crunch.

Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court and Chairman of the Higher Corporation of Specialised Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), said huge unprecedented participation of advanced countries, major world defence industries, experts, military and political leaders at the Idex 2009 “reflects the UAE’s sound course and ability to organise world-class event”.
He told Dira’ Al Watan magazine (Nation’s Shield magazine) in a statement, the sponsorship of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, of the event “shows strategic trend of our leadership who seeks to boost cooperation between the UAE and other world countries, as well as building strong partnership with the world defence firms to ensure supply of arms to the UAE Armed Forces.
