Khalifa, Turkmenistan leader discuss ways to deepen ties

Sheikh Khalifa and Berdimuhamedow discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations. (WAM)

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday met President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on the sidelines of his visit to the Central Asian country.

As he welcomed the UAE President, Berdimuhamedow praised the UAE-Turkmenistan bonds of co-operation and friendship.

The two presidents discussed ways of enhancing these relations in light of the positive results produced by Berdimuhamedow's recent visit to the UAE.

During the trip, the two countries sealed a series of agreements and memoranda of understanding.

Sheikh Khalifa stressed the importance of further developing mechanisms to implement these agreements in order to enable bilateral bonds meet aspired ambitions and objectives.

Berdimuhamedow said he was delighted to meet Sheikh Khalifa. He praised the UAE's development model under the prudent leadership of Sheikh Khalifa and expressed his country's desire to draw lessons from the UAE rich experience, particularly in the private sector.

The two leaders exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues.
