Maktoum, Mandelson discuss bilateral ties

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai International Financial Centre, received British Secretary of State for business, enterprise and regulatory reform Lord Peter Mandelson yesterday.

At a meeting they reviewed the global situation and discussed ways to push the economy forward, with particular emphasis on activating the role of global financial and banking firms through co-ordination.

Sheikh Maktoum and Lord Mandelson stressed the need to enhance communication between financial firms in the UAE and their counterparts in Britain to build a solid base for co-operation so as to achieve common interests. The meeting was attended by several officials and the British Ambassador to the UAE.
