Mohammed attends MBRE awards event

The awards ceremony of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment (MBRE) for Small and Medium Size Enterprises, was attended by His Highness Sheikh Moham?med bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the establishment, distributed awards.

Abdul Baset Al Janahi, MBRE CEO, said: "About 9,000 entrepreneurs have benefited. Since it was founded in 2002, the establishment has offered loans of Dh720 million.

The SME Award, organised with Mashreq bank, is part of a strategy to support businesses in Dubai and provide entrepreneurs with adequate encouragement to grow and develop their businesses.

Al Ghurair, also CEO of Mashreq, said honouring young achievers is a reward for their innovation and talent. "The SMEs sector is growing at 25 per cent a year. The sector has about 250,000 firms and attract about 60 per cent of manpower in the UAE."

The event was also attended by Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Speaker of FNC; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group and Chairman of Dubai Airports; Sheikh Majed bin Mohammed bin Rashid, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and a number of senior officials.
