His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, toured an exhibition on learning techniques organised by the Ministry of Education on the sidelines of the Gulf Education Forum in Dubai yesterday.

Accompanied by Minister of Education Humaid Mohammed Obeid Al Qattami, Sheikh Mohammed toured various halls at Dubai International Airport Exhibition Centre, where he was briefed on the latest technologies and educational solutions.

During a stop at the Ministry of Education section, he was briefed by staff about online educational programmes offered by the ministry as part of its new learning strategy. Sheikh Mohammed expressed satisfaction with the ministry's initiatives and education strategy, which seek to create a student-centred interactive learning environment.

Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Al Qattami about the benefits and practical applications of technology on display at the exhibition, noting that more than 6,000 teachers from around the country attended the event.

Sheikh Mohammed also met a number of participants of the exhibition in which employees from about 200 government and private institutions specialised in technology sector and educational requirements took part.

Later, Sheikh Mohammed went on a field tour of a workshop for employees from various local and federal government departments. It was organised by Dubai Government Excellence Programme at the Dubai Police Officers' Club.

The 180 workshop participants gave Sheikh Mohammed a warm welcome, saying his visit has provided them with support and encouragement in building robust national institutions, under the guidance of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mohammed called on those present to pursue more training and study, and to take advantage of all opportunities provided by the government and its leadership to develop their skills, so that they may better serve the state and its institutions.

Sheikh Mohammed also attended the Woman and Civil Society Forum organised by Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) under the auspices of Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wife of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Chairperson of DWE.

He met Dr Fatima Al Sayegh and the participants and discussed the aims of the forum, especially the UAE national women's awareness of the role of civil society institutions and their activities. He urged the forum's participants to be in harmony in their views and aspirations to achieve the highest goals that serve the UAE women and their special issues. He also praised Sheikha Manal's efforts to serve women and society.
