General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has issued in his capacity as Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council (Adec) a resolution restructuring the Board of Directors of the Emirates Foundation under chairmanship of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.
According to resolution No2 of 2010, the following people will act as members of the board: Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais (managing director), Obeid Al Hairi Salim Al Kitbi, Mohammed Hassan Omran, and Mohammed Hamad Ghanem Al Muhairi.
They will serve for a three year renewable term.
The new board thanked Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Abdullah for their support and patronage of the foundations plans and programmes for serving and advancing the local community.
Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Managing Director, thanked the former members of the board for dedication and efforts for launching a number of projects.
In 2009, the foundation launched more than 300 grants, scholarships and programmes.
The board of directors maintains responsibility for the foundation’s operations including, but not limited to, oversight of assets and the endowment, approval of foundation budgets, and appointment and review of senior management.
