Open day for educators at Sharjah Museums office
Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) will hold the third 'Open House Day for Educators' tomorrow at the Sharjah Maritime Museum.
The initiative, which will be hosted by SMD's Department of Interpretation and Education, is part of SMD's ongoing efforts to raise awareness about Sharjah's various museums.
The Open House Day for Educators aims to communicate with individuals working in the field of education, including schools and universities, community groups, homeschool network, adult education sector and special needs organisations, about museums in Sharjah.
The event will provide participants a wealth of informative materials. "Sharjah Museums Department provides a range of educational programmes for adults across its 17 museums. These include tours, gallery talks and workshops, which are held every Saturday in different museums. Gallery talks and workshops offer an excellent opportunity to learn and discover new insights into SMD's extensive collections and to discuss ideas and concerns with museum professionals," said Mona bin Hussain, Academic and Adult Programmes Manager.
The Open House Day will provide information on physical accessibility of museums, the various programmes and opportunities for universities and programmes for learning outside of formal education, such as weekend family workshops and adult gallery talks, she said.
"SMD's staff will address questions and provide information regarding its various programmes covering fine arts, natural history and botany, archaeology, Islamic history and arts, the historic houses and museums of Sharjah Heritage Area and the new Sharjah Aquarium and Sharjah Maritime Museum," said Mona.
