Panel set up to name Dubai streets

Dubai Municipality's Director General Hussein Nasser Lootah has issued a decision forming the executive committee to name the emirate's streets.

The committee comprises representatives of the municipality and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The committee will compile plans and maps showing sites of streets named by the earlier-formed higher committee ahead of approval by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Municipality.

The executive committee will also make a time schedule for phases of the project, in cooperation with the committee of the comprehensive streets naming project, formed by RTA. The higher committee defines the streets to be named and proposes names reflecting the emirate's historical and contemporary character.
