The Dubai Public Prosecution has registered a total of 37,951 cases out of which 22,239 have been referred to court, according to its registration section, which supervises the logging of all data of criminal issues into computers and ensures its accuracy and authenticity.
The figure does not include traffic and naturalisation and residency cases, said Ahmed Hamad Boushhab, Head of the Registration Section.
"The section logs all data related to defendants, their addresses and charges, along with the data about victims through an advanced electronic programme,'' said Boushhab.
"The section has also archived 11,812 cases. In addition, 198 seizure orders were referred to Interpol and 151 cases were sent to other local public prosecutions,'' he said.
