His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, participated in a parade marking his fourth anniversary as the Ruler of Dubai in the Al Mamzar area of Dubai yesterday.
Sheikh Mohammed met with the nation's sons and daughters gathered at Mamzar Beach since early morning, many of whom were bearing flags and pictures of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed.
Mounted police officers and the Dubai Police marching band led the parade, which saw the attendance of over 12,000 students from public and private schools, in addition to representatives from the Armed Forces and centres for people with special needs.
Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed during the parade were Media Escort to Sheikh Mohammed and Managing Director of Dubai Media Incorporated Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh, Dubai Police's Deputy Commandant General, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, a number of sheikhs and senior officials.
Throughout the parade Sheikh Mohammed greeted and waved to citizens and residents, who paid tribute to him in recognition of his great achievements and wise vision.
He went on to thank them for displaying their passionate patriotism all along their journey towards learning and excellence.
During the celebrations, parade participants expressed their love and loyalty to the country's leadership, homeland and constitution as the national anthem was sung and the UAE's flag raised high.
Across the city at Dubai Marina, staff from the Emirates Diving Center marked the occasion by floating a huge image of Sheikh Mohammed in the surrounding waters, much to the delight of surprised onlookers.
As per the directives of Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh, an exhibition showing images of national and social events, meetings and official visits, as well as photos taken of Sheikh Mohammed from his childhood to the present day will be open to the public at the Dubai International Convention Centre for two days.
The images depict Sheikh Mohammed's many accomplishments in the fields of education, economics and sports among others that have brought prosperity and stability to Dubai and the country beyond.
