The Tamweel 2 trial was adjourned yesterday so that a translator with a specialist knowledge of legal terms could be brought to court to translate the testimony of a Pakistani witness into Arabic.

The witness is Mohammed Noaman, financial manager of a company owned by one of the accused, Emirati AS, Tamweel's former CEO. AS is one of five people accused by the public prosecution of embezzlement and participating in a crime. The others are Emirati AN, Tamweel's former commercial manager, Pakistanis WA and MY and Ukrainian RR. All five attended yesterday's session at Dubai Criminal Court.

The case was adjourned until February 2. The accused have been freed, with their passports being held by the court. At an earlier session, the case was adjourned to hear the testimony of three witnesses.
