UAE prepares for safety at nuclear facilities

The UAE lends special care to security and safety and proactive preparedness to any emergency and crisis before they erupt, said an official yesterday.

Director-General of National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) Mohammed Khalfan Al Romaithy said: "The UAE under directives from its wise leadership is drawing strategic plans and introducing early warning systems for prevention and reduction of risks at time of crises."

He was speaking on the sideline of the Second Crisis and Emergency Management Conference 2010 in Abu Dhabi.

"We have commenced such arrangements since the early moments of planning for using nuclear power for peaceful purposes," he said.
