Unified fees for 37 customs services will be implemented from March 1 at different customs offices in the UAE.

The fees for these customs services have been unified for the first time on a countrywide level following Cabinet Decision No45 of 2009.

The decision is aimed at facilitating global trade and is part of the implementation of the UAE's commitment towards the GCC customs union and international treaties in this regard, said Khalid Al Bustani, Acting Director-General of the Federal Customs Authority (FCA).

"Due to the need to help remove obstacles faced by importers and exporters, facilitate trade movement and leverage services, the FCA had submitted to the Cabinet a memorandum on the need to unify fees of customs services. The Cabinet has approved the memorandum in its decision No45 and the implementation will be from March 1," he added.

Unifying fees of customs services comes under the FCA's strategy to facilitate procedures, said Al Bustani.

Representatives from different local customs departments participated in preparing a unified list of fees, he added.
