Opposition party calls for mass rallies across Kenya

Kenya’s main opposition party called Friday for mass rallies across the East African nation after mediation talks failed to resolve the deadly dispute over presidential election results that has left more than 500 people dead.

Previous opposition attempts to rally have been blocked by police firing tear gas, water cannons and live bullets over people’s heads. Tony Gachoka, a party spokesman, said the party will “declare the resumption of mass protest against irregular presidential results.” (AP)
