Britain is banning the exports of a machine marketed as a bomb detection device because of allegations that it does not work.

The Department for Business Innovation and Skills is banning export of the device after a BBC Newsnight investigation challenged the claims of the manufacturing company, ATSC.

The exports were banned to Iraq and Afghanistan because of the risk that they could hurt British and friendly forces.
