The UAE is commemorating today the second anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum becoming UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed was appointed Ruler of Dubai on January 4, 2006, following the death of his elder brother, the then ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He was then elected by members of the Supreme Council as UAE Vice-President. The council also approved the proposal of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to appoint Sheikh Mohammed as Prime Minister.
Over the two years since the first moments he embarked on his national task, Sheikh Mohammed has shown a strong resolve, solid will and a far-sighted future vision to create the opportunities for all-out development to build the modern state.
Sheikh Mohammed defines his vision by saying: “My vision of the union is the vision of each and every official and citizen, which is to go forward on the march of development and the improvement of all people to take the UAE to the level of advanced countries, and to reach the high standards, prosperity and happiness aspired for by the sons of the Emirates.”
Since his first day as Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed has reiterated his desire to work as one team under the leadership and directives of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to achieve the goals of economic, social and human development.
