All set for a night under the stars

Following a successful launch last month, the Full Moon Party at Atlantis The Palm's Nasimi beach returns from 7pm tonight with DJs Papa Desire and Charl Chaka.

The concept – which is a regular in chic party islands, such as Koh Samui and Koh Pa Nang – was thought up by Dubai DJ Chaka after "spending a night at the beach under the full moon having ice teas – and the moon and ice tea inspired us".

He continues: "Nasimi beach is the ultimate fusion of sound, sight and taste at an incomparable location. It offers a sophisticated beachfront setting with spectacular views of the sea.

"For music, we have the resident DJ, Papa Desire, who will take care of sunset with some deep house, then I will be taking over from 11pm for some groovy jacking house rhythms."

However, don't go expecting a typical beach party of over-the-top people, over-the-top music, and fake settings. Chaka insists this is the real thing.

"There aren't any beach parties in Dubai," he says. "Some parties claim to be beach parties, but are on grass patches or wooden platforms right next to the beach.

"The Nasimi Full Moon party is on the beach. You can take your shoes off, feel the sand under your feet while enjoying a shisha and a drink.

"Don't expect cheesy Top of the Pops-style house hits though – it's all about real groovy house music for the soul."

The Full Moon party starts from 7pm tonight at the Nasimi beach. Entry is free, but to guarantee entry, it is recommended to call 056 603 6315 for guestlist or table reservations.
