That Bollywood's many awards do matter was clear after Sunday night's Stardust Awards, when Abhishek Bachchan posted a note to fans thanking them for naming him Best Supporting Actor in the reader's choice category.
In the main categories, Ranbir Kapoor's status as superstar of tomorrow has been confirmed with an award, while Preity Zinta was named best actor for Videsh. Breakthrough performance gongs were given to Abhimanyu Singh for Gulaal and Shahana Goswami for Firaaq, while the year's hottest film was named Love Aaj Kal.
Other readers' awards were given to the films All The Best, Wanted and 3 Idiots, while Amitabh Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor were named stars of the year. Rather surprisingly, Akshay Kumar was named best actor for the execrable Blue.
