High Life Dubai stays glitzy while reaching out socially.
News of a fourth season of High Life Dubai elicits one of two strong reactions: Extreme joy or groans of dismay.
A sort of cult classic in the UAE, the show has proved popular enough with residents starved of local content to run to another season, one that its glamourous anchor, Uma Ghosh Deshpande, promises will be both interactive and socially conscious – while staying glamourous.
"We're responding to the many requests from viewers who have written in asking to be on the show," Deshpande, who also produces the show, told Emirates Business.
Fashion, interiors and cars bring viewers into the studio, as Deshpande explores both makeovers for extreme fashion victims on Fashion Flirt and advice on redecorating living spaces with limited budgets on High Home.
A link on cars, S on Wheels (S stands for style), caters perfectly to car-mad Dubai, its focus on modified luxury cars giving the Dhiyafah Road sportscar cruisers something to aspire to.
Rounding out the show is High Focus, a segment Deshpande started to give something back to the community. Each month, the show spotlights a social issue, such as breast cancer or autism, and Deshpande talks about it each week. "People don't communicate in the UAE. We wanted to give them a platform where they could reach out to others without being judged," she said.
