Dance icons Joaquin Cortes and Akram Khan headline three-a-set of world music and dance events being organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach) in January and February.

On January 24 and 25 Adach hosts Joaquin Cortes at the Emirates Palace hotel auditorium. Known for redefining the language of Spanish dance, he will present Cale, his brand new flamenco ballet with 40 dancers.

And Akram Khan, one of the world's leading contemporary dance choreographers, is partnering with Adach to present Gnosis, a combination of traditional Indian Kathak dance and contemporary movement with Arab oud and qanoon musicians live on stage. It will be staged on February 25 and 26 at the Abu Dhabi Theatre near Marina Mall.

Malian musician Habib Koite, famous for his exuberant guitar-playing and vibrant rhythms, is set to perform at the capital's Cultural Foundation on January 21.
