Rolling good time for all

Loads of fun for everyone. (SUPPLIED)

Despite not having been roller blading in a very long time, I decided to take on the challenge to try out Ibn Battuta Mall's new roller rink, the Roller Extreme. And thankfully, the sport is still just as fun as when it first emerged.

Located in the India Court, the rink is open from 1pm until 10pm on Sunday to Wednesday, and from 1pm to midnight on Thursday to Saturday. Prices start at Dh30 for a two-hour session, which includes hire of 3S roller skates made by Smart Ice.

Although there's nothing really extreme about the rink (I thought there would be hoops and loops, but I guess no insurance company would allow that), it certainly beats hitting the gym in the fun workout stakes.

There is even a series of special weekend themed nights planned, which will include music, games and competitions for all the family.

Roller Extreme is part of Ibn Battuta's Summer Fiesta, an event bringing a series of themed zones and events to the mall. So even if roller blading is not your thing, there's plenty of other activities on offer such as PlayStation gaming, crazy golf, penalty shoot outs, arts and crafts, and puppet shows.
