Slovenians join clean-up campaign
Some 200,000 volunteers joined a nationwide campaign yesterday to clean up the country of two million, removing garbage that is an eyesore in many areas of EU member state Slovenia. "Our campaign 'Let's clean Slovenia in one day' has exceeded our expectations," Polonca Stritof, a spokeswoman for environmentalist group Ecologists Without Borders, told journalists shortly after the five-hour campaign was over. The final number of participants "most certainly exceeds 200,000", she said calling for patience if traffic in cities and towns is slowed down as the collected garbage is disposed of.
