If you prefer not to drive and would rather someone else take the wheel, then the Maybach 62S is the perfect vehicle.
Priced at more than Dh2 million, the new Maybach is designed to be driven by a chauffeur and is one of the world's most powerful saloons.
Vast reserves of power combined with smoothness are the key characteristics of its Type 12 engine. The car accelerates from zero to 100kph in 5.2 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250kph.
"The 62S is the newest flagship model in the Maybach line-up," Wassim Derbi, Marketing Manager of Gargash Enterprises, exclusive distributor for Mercedes-Benz in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, told Emirates Business. Maybach is a division of Daimler, which owns Mercedes-Benz.
"The S in the model name stands for special and draws attention to the fact that the Maybach engineers at the state-of-the-art workshops in Sindelfingen, Germany, have incorporated features requested by customers.
"The result is a unique level of travelling comfort, especially for the passengers in the generously proportioned rear compartment of the new high-end luxury saloon.
"Prodigious power output thanks to the enhanced potency of the 12-cylinder engine that develops 450 kW/612hp makes the 62S the world's most powerful chauffeur-driven saloon in series production."
The driver and front passenger benefit from seats that have been especially designed for long-distance comfort. The seats, which are upholstered in grand nappa leather, have a multi-contour backrest with dynamic lumbar support and are electrically adjustable.
The longitudinal position, height, backrest, cushion inclination and length and head restraint height can be adjusted individually and the settings stored by means of five memory buttons on the door lining.
As the car has been designed for those who prefer to be driven, the rear seats can change from an upright sitting position to a reclining one at the touch of a button and added support for the lower legs and feet can be deployed.
In addition each seat has a powerful ventilation system that can be adjusted individually to increase passenger comfort. This system features up to 10 fans built into the upholstery of the backrest and cushion and ensures the seat occupant remains comfortable even in extremely hot conditions or when seated for extended periods.
But the Maybach 62S is not just about comfort, it is about reaching your destination safely too.
A crash-optimised safety cell increases the level of protection offered to the occupants. In the event of a crash the latest sensor technology is able to identify the type and severity of the accident. A rollover sensor and a membrane-type front-passenger weight sensor are integrated into the seat cushion. Two further sensors at the front of the vehicle contribute to earlier detection of the severity of an accident.
The driver and front-passenger airbags in every Maybach have two activation stages which are triggered as required. Sidebags in the front and rear seat backrests as well as separate front and rear windowbags also protect the passengers. And the reclining rear seats are equipped with crash-optimised backrests.
While all these features are standard, there are many options that can transform your car into a mobile comfort zone.
You can choose to an electro-transparent panoramic glass roof that can be rendered opaque at the touch of a button, changing the light conditions and the ambience inside the vehicle, or an electric tilting/sliding sunroof over the rear section of the passenger compartment of car.
You can also opt for a refrigerator box, two folding tables in the rear and a rear phone that complements the two standard cordless handsets in the front, or a glass partition. And the Distronic proximity control system helps the driver to keep a set distance from the vehicle ahead, making journeys less stressful.
"A Maybach is built by hand but created in the mind," added Derbi. "One can never convey fully the possibilities offered by the vast range of optional extras and accessories which are available to make your Maybach 62S a one-off, specially built in accordance with your wishes."
