The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has approved around 20 per cent fee increases in The American Academy for Girls in Al Mizhar and the Uptown school in Mirdif.

The approvals for fee increase comes within a month after KHDA stated that schools are not justified to burden parents as the economic climate in the emirate has stabilised, reports Gulf News.

The restructuring of fee is permitted only for the academic year 2010-2011.

However, GEMS, the largest provider of private education has announced fee increases in its Asian schools this week despite KHDA's stand on fee freeze, said the paper.
