An international flat racing series in honour of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is to be held for the second time next year, the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach) announced yesterday.
The Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Flat Racing Festival will start in May and include races in the UAE, France, the Netherlands, Germany plus other yet-to-be announced countries, and the winner of the series will receive the Sheikh Zayed Cup.
"The festival is in appreciation of the great efforts exerted by the late Sheikh Zayed, founder of the UAE," said Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Director of Adach's Communications Department. "The festival will celebrate his iachievements in preservation of heritage and tradition and the attention he paid to heritage sports, particularly the equestrian field."
The festival was first held this year and concluded in November at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.
