Lindsay Lohan admits she likes to learn lessons "the hard way," but insists she is ready to lead a more private life.

A visibly healthier looking Lindsay Lohan jetted back to Dubai last week and found herself a quiet corner on a beachside lounger to soak up the rays on day on, while posing for a selfie, while continuing her frolic on the beach a day later.

The 28-year-old actress, who is trying to get her career back on track after a turbulent few years during which she sought treatment in rehab six times and had numerous legal issues, says she is partially responsible for her party girl reputation.

Asked if she thought critics were out to get her in the past, she said: "Yeah, definitely, but I think I also have to take responsibility for that. I was putting myself into situations where it was easier for them to do that.
“It's just a process of growing up - that's what happens when kids are in college and no one's around telling them what's what, but I chose to live my life in public. And I stepped back from it and I thought, 'Okay, if I don't put myself in that place, then they can't say anything.' I think it's just learning and I like to learn the hard way, clearly."

The 'Mean Girls' star claims Hollywood has changed a lot since she first found fame as a child actress.

She told the latest issue of ‘Hunger, We've Got Issues’ magazine: "I've been doing this for so long that it's different now. We didn't use to have Twitter and stuff. Now the price that you pay is that your life is so much more viral. You can't get away from it."

But she claims she is ready to lead a more private life.

She said: "You have no privacy unless you choose to live your life a certain way.

"I went away and had treatment and tried to be private."

Dubai Valentine's

But it’s perhaps her Valentine’s Day cozy dinner at one of the restaurants at Madinat Jumeirah that really set tongues wagging, especially since Lohan also tweeted a picture of stunning bouquet of white roses as her personal gift on the day.

Has the diva found love in our neighbourhood?

While the jury is still out on this one, the ‘Mean Girls’ actress, who has cleaned up her act and wild ways the past year, posted a picture of herself in a fluorescent bikini last Tuesday, while she worked on her tan from the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort and Spa on The Walk.

Accompanying the picture was a message that stated: “Excited to come back and visit @karen_w_b and Georgie!”

A little snooping unearthed the lady being referred to was Karen Wazen Bakhazi, a Dubai-based socialite and blogger, while George was her baby boy.

The actress posted yet another beachside picture on Friday, where you can see Dubai’s famous Pier Chic in the background, as Lohan posted on Facebook: “Taking a little me time.”

Lohan’s last public appearance was at Nobu London on February 9, when she was spotted dining out with friends.

It is unclear why she is here and how many days Lohan plans to stay back in sunshine city, but this is by no means the actress’ first visit to the emirate.

Back in 2008, Lohan was amongst the handpicked celebs that were flown down to Dubai for the star-studded opening of Atlantis The Palm; a year later, she was spotted back on the archipelago with then-girlfriend and DJ Samantha Ronson.

Then in 2012, the actress was embroiled in legal row against a UAE party planning firm for reportedly using her name as one of the celebrities attending its New Year’s Eve event on the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) ocean liner.

A year later, the ‘Liz & Dick’ star turned down an offer to return to the emirate to promote an energy drink, with media at the time reporting the actress was seeking a few of half a million dollars (Dh1.83 million), but was offered only $200,000 (Dh735,000).
