Award-winning Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee 's efforts to modernise the sari, while maintaining its iconic silhouette, is fuelling a revival of the traditional drape. He made a sari look fashionable.

He has captured the imagination of the Bollywood divas. Be it a red carpet event, a wedding or a baby shower; celebrities are seen splashing his unique designs with vibrant colours and exquisite fabric.

"I want to tell: 'The sari is beautiful, it is forgiving, it is unique, and it is exotic to the whole world'," Sabyasachi told AFP explaining the mindset about sari.

Mukherjee has more recently devoted his efforts to designing pre-pleated and easy-to-tie saris that are at the same time exquisitely embroidered. To his range he has added the traditional Indian 'Ghagra-Choli' (long skirt and top) and the famous 'Anarkali' (Full length Indian dress with a trouser).

Sabyasachi's creations are turning into a hot favorite among the Bollywood ladies. In the last month alone there have been 20 or more spectacular appearances by celebs in Sabyasachi.

Here are some of the actress sporting his designs. Who do you think wears Sabyasachi the best?

Rani Mukerjee has been one actress who has never shied away from draping a sari, rather making it a fashion statement. It won't be harsh to say she might have been among Sabyasachi's very first client from Bollywood. Till date Rani remains faithful to this Bengali designer. Rani Mukerjee and Vidya Balan are some of Sabyasachi's loyal clients from Bollywood.

Vidya Balan, who is on the heavier side, has trusted blindly on Sabyasachi from day one. So much so that she entrusted him to design her entire wedding ensemble. This actress has been spotted in every function and event wearing a Sabyasachi sari. The National Award winner’s style graph has shot upwards over the past couple of years.

After Aishwarya Rai gave birth to daughter Aaradhya Bachchan she faced a lot of backlash for the extra flab around her waist. But everytime she wore a Sabyasachi dress Ash looked ethereal be it taking the red carpet in London for Bvlgari event or attending the Longines event in Singapore. The actress has been seen wearing loose-fitting anarkali with a U-cut neck and long sleeves covering her arms.

During Sridevi's heydays desinger Sabyasachi Mukherjee was not a big name. Sridevi has had the chance to wear Sabyaschi on-screen for the first time in her comeback film 'English-Vinglish'. Sridevi’s costumes was apt, true to the character she played. And that's where sabyashachi scored a point with Sridevi and now the lady is often seen wearing the desinger's creation.

Deepika Padukone is one of the leading ladies in the film industry now. She is a role model for the younger generation. Deepika looks great in her western atire but with sari she makes a definite impression among teenagers. Deepika gives the humdrum sari a new meaning for younsters draping it during events not just in India but abroad.

From Aishwarya, Vidya Balan, Rani Mukherji to Sridevi, Sabyasachi Mukherjee has dressed them all. The fashion designer is well-known for his traditional yet stylish designs. Now it seems he has found another admirer in Deepika Padukone.
