'Ghajini' director A Murugadoss was contemplating working with the other Khans of Bollywood - Salman and Shah Rukh Khan after making a blockbuster in Hindi with his Aamir Khan starrer.
But many films did not progress beyond the scripting, narration and the planning stages. And now we know that Akshay Kumar has agreed to work with Murugadoss provided he gets actress Katrina Kaif on board for the heroine.
Murugadoss was in Mumbai filming his movie 'Thuppakki' (meaning pistol) with 'Singham' actressl Kajal Agarwal and Tamil superstar Vijay. South Indian star Vijay demands a good Dh16.6 million in the regional market for his movies, three times more than what the 'Kolaveri' Kid Dhanush charges.
The director took time off from his shoot to meet Kumar and got him to visit the sets of the film, as this is the very film which will feature Akshay in the lead role.
'Thupakki' translated into English would mean "slap", but then we are told that the film hasn’t been named as yet.
If Katrina is cast in the film opposite Akshay, the film will be their seventh movie together after films like 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye' (Hit), 'Namastey London' (Hit), 'Welcome' (Hit), 'Singh is Kinng' (Hit), 'De Dana Dann' (Average) and 'Tees Maar Khan' (Flop).
The film is expected to go on the floors after the Tamil version releases in the theatres in the month of November.
