Barry Manilow's Australian tour has been postponed due to "unforseen circumstances".

The Copacabana singer was due to perform in capital cities throughout April but will now play later in the year.

A spokeswoman for tour promoter Dainty Entertainment said the shows would go ahead once new dates were agreed with the singer's US management.

"It's definitely a postponement and we're working on new dates," she told AAP.

"The tour will happen this year."

Refunds will be available from point of purchase or ticket holders can hold on to them until new dates are confirmed.
