Bollywood casting couch exists: Hema Saredesaai

Fame doesn’t come easy, does it? Like any industry, even Bollywood has its share of the good, the bad and the ugly.

And, highlighting the “ugly” side of the movie industry was singer Hema Saredesaai.

In an interview with a magazine, excerpts of which were later displayed on Bollywood website MissMalini.com she speaks of how “Bollywood is full of bad people”.

“Whichever studio I went to, people kept a bad eye on me. They wanted to sleep with me,” she said.

This expose does not come as a shocker because Bollywood has been accused of the existence of casting-couch innumerable times in the past.

Stories of starlets being harassed and manipulated over promises of a slot in the Bollywood spotlight aren’t new.

“Bollywood is full of bad and good people. I was never getting to meet the good people, initially.

“But I never got depressed as I have always worshiped my music and made a point that I will never insult my music. Till today, God lives in my music,” her interview reads.

With over sixty chartbusters to her credit, Hema Sardesaai insists that her journey to the top wasn’t easy.

Although she did get noticed, she claims that sustaining her position in the industry has not been a cake walk.

Some of her popular tracks are ‘Awara Bhanvrey’ from ‘Sapnay’ (1997), Jungle Hai Aadhi Raat Hai from ‘Biwi No.1’ (1999), and Apun Bola, Tu Meri Laila from ‘Josh’ (2000).

She’ll soon lend her voice to two songs in the Naseeruddin Shah-Randeep Hooda starrer ‘The Coffin Maker’.
